Substance as contingent

jumbles on Empiricism

By a number of accounts of the word "empiricist", I am one, as is each thomist: even the ideas infused by God in us as seminal principles are gathered from sensation. Since it's a man that knows, it's a bodily thing that knows (even the possibility of a guy were to be granted a vision beyond sensation, as Paul was, he would not realize it was he who had the vision). However if empiricism is said in relation to experience, I hold the thomist more an empiricist that the later Brits: for universals are given by internal experience too- not hazy pictures, however one thing that's truly said of a lot. A fuzzy picture cannot be said of a lot, whether it's in consciousness or not.

Jottings on Motion

-We say something is moving when we see that it's continually other and other; when it isn't in any state, however continually otherwise and otherwise than prior to.

-I become more and more proved that one cannot understand anything about ancient or medieval philosophy with no getting a great look at why they thought motion was such an odd and remarkable thing: with a number of even going so far as to deny it existed. -To say that motion is being at each point, even the possibility of it were true, would tell us not a thing about motion as such. Whether the points are infinite or not makes no difference.
